Students currently enrolled at Catholic University may apply to join the Cornerstone Program in the fall of their freshman or sophomore year, although we encourage students who are interested to apply as early as possible to experience as much of the program as possible!

Deadline: November 15th

To apply, students need to:

  • Be currently enrolled at Catholic University
  • First-year students must submit their midterm grades, sophomores need a minimum 3.3 GPA
  • Fill out the online application form
  • Ask an instructor/advisor/supervisor to fill out the online recommendation form

For the application form, the following materials are needed:

  • An unofficial transcript with midterm grades (please submit as a PDF)
  • A list or description of your high school and/or college leadership experiences
  • A short essay (250-300 words) explaining how studying the humanities can help you be a leader in your profession/community

The recommendation form can be filled out by a Catholic University instructor/professor, undergraduate or major advisor, or a supervisor with whom you've worked closely with on campus.

Once both forms have been completed, students will be invited to interview with the Director of the Cornerstone Program as part of the application process.

Students who are applying to the Cornerstone Program must commit to taking both Gateway courses and are strongly encouraged to complete a Pathway. If you are unsure about whether or not your academic schedule will allow you to take the Gateway courses, please consult with your undergraduate and major advisors. The Director of the Cornerstone Program is also always happy to discuss program requirements with individual students.
